The rear-right cooktop burner was not heating

We repaired a Whirlpool stove in Charlotte with a faulty rear-right surface burner. The affected coil is at the back right of the photograph.

The continuity test identified an open coil

We checked the heating element for resistance and continuity. The test showed an open circuit through the coil.

We replaced the coil surface element. No other parts were replaced in this repair.

Heating worked after the replacement

After replacing the coil, we switched the burner on and confirmed that it heated. The repair was completed over two visits.

A dark coil alone does not identify the fault

Whirlpool explains that coil elements on some models cycle on and off during use. A photograph of a dark burner alone does not establish that the element has failed.

In this repair, the resistance and continuity check found the open circuit. That finding supported replacing the coil, rather than treating its appearance in the photograph as the diagnosis.
