GE washer not spinning or agitating: drive belt replacement in Charlotte

The washer would not agitate or spin

A Charlotte customer called to report that their washer was not working. The appliance was a GE washer/dryer laundry center; this repair involved the washer section.

We started the washer and confirmed that neither agitation nor spin was working. The motor could be heard running, but the agitator and basket did not move.

The drive belt had slipped off and was worn

On inspection, we found that the drive belt had slipped off. The old belt was slightly stretched and had visible defects, including cracks or tears.

The motor was running without driving the washer’s moving parts. Finding the displaced, damaged belt explained the lost drive in this case. The motor sound alone would not have identified which component needed repair.

We replaced the drive belt

We replaced the drive belt. It was the only part replaced during this repair.

The belt photographed separately is the removed old belt. These photographs do not show the new belt. They document the appliance, the opened washer assembly and the worn part removed during the service.

The post-repair check included a full cycle

After the belt replacement, we checked washing and agitation, draining and spinning. We also ran a full cycle and confirmed that the washer was working.
